Medal Making Workshop (Ages 5-9)

This Winter school holidays head to Parramatta Artists Studios in Granville for artist-led creative activity. Studio Artist Abdullah M I Syed will guide kids and families through a fun and interactive exercise using paper and banknotes.

Abdullah will lead participants through a series of tasks that identify the value of an award. They'll discuss who they think should win a medal and why, then create their own star-shaped badge or medal to keep or gift to someone else. Participants will learn how to analyse designs and patterns on paper and pick up folding techniques they can repeat at home.

All materials and tools are provided, including real and imitation banknotes. No glue will be used, as kids will learn how to make long lasting craft items using sustainable folding, drawing and stapling skills.
