Tree Planting Program
2026 Residents’ request tree planting program – apply before 28 February
City of Parramatta is starting to plan our popular program where residents can request a street tree to be planted on the nature strip outside their home.
If you would like to request a Council-funded street tree, please apply before 28 February 2026.
Please note conditions apply, please see our request a street tree project page.
Should your tree request not be able to be fulfilled in this program, your application will be reviewed for future City of Parramatta tree planting programs.
Trees play an important role in the ‘greening’ of our City. They make our surroundings pleasant, provide relief from summer heat and reduce glare from pavement. They also increase the value of real estate, reduce stormwater run-off and improve the quality of the air we breathe.
While a good portion of the Parramatta area is covered by tree canopy, we know that a greener city means a cooler city, a cleaner environment and a happier and healthier community.
City of Parramatta plants around 2,700 trees a year on our streets and in parks and bushland areas. Our goal is to grow our tree canopy coverage to 40% by the year 2050 and create a more resilient, sustainable city.
In addition to continuing our own planting program, we’ve secured NSW Government funding to plant more than 10,000 trees over the next two years in low canopy streets, the CBD, local parks, and along our rivers and creeks. We also have exciting plans to increase our green space and create a cooler City for everyone to enjoy.
