Indian Independence Day 2022

India's Independence Day is celebrated on 15 August each year and 2022 marked the 75th Anniversary.

The City of Parramatta is home to one of the largest populations of people from Indian descent in NSW, making the 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence an important day for our community. Hosted by City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Donna Davis. This is a public event and will feature a Flag Raising Ceremony of the Australian and Indian National Flags and cultural performances.

To celebrate, City of Parramatta held a Flag Raising Ceremony, hosted by Lord Mayor Cr Donna Davis on 15 August at Jubilee Park, Parramatta. This special event allowed our community to connect with their homeland and embrace the traditions of their Indian culture. Special guest Consul-General of India, Manish Gupta attended the event, where the Australian and Indian National Flag was raised to mark this momentous anniversary.
